Wubkje Kuindersma was born in Cameroon and is based in the Netherlands. She studied at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam before developing an international performing career with companies including Ballet Nürnberg, Djazzex, Ballet Gulbenkian, Random Dance and Danish Dance Theatre. As a dancer, she performed works by leading choreographers including Jiřà Kylián, William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Wayne McGregor and Anouk van Dijk.
Kuindersma later established herself as an internationally recognised choreographer, creating works for ballet and contemporary dance companies worldwide. Since creating her first work for Dutch National Ballet in 2017, she has choreographed regularly for the company and served as Young Creative Associate from 2021 to 2024.
Her choreography has been performed by Dutch National Ballet, West Australian Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, BalletX, National Ballet of Portugal, Danish Dance Theatre, Korzo & NDT, Bundesjugendballett John Neumeier and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, among others.
Alongside her choreographic practice, Kuindersma has developed a particular interest in artistic leadership, collaboration and artist wellbeing. She studied High Impact Leadership & Sustainability at the University of Cambridge and Athlete Wellbeing Management at the Wellbeing Science Institute in Sydney.
