Marijn Rademaker was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where he began his ballet training before continuing his studies at the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, Artez in Arnhem and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he completed his training in 2000. In 1999, he received the Grace Prize of Foundation Dansersfonds ’79 from Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar.
In 2000, he joined Stuttgart Ballet, where he quickly established himself as one of the company’s leading artists. After being promoted to demi- soloist in 2004, he rose to Principal dancer in 2006 following his highly acclaimed debut as Armand in John Neumeier’s The Lady of the Camellias. He joined Dutch National Ballet as a Principal dancer in 2015 and later continued his work with the company as Ballet Master.
Throughout his career, he performed leading roles across a wide classical and contemporary repertoire, including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Don Quijote, Giselle and La Sylphide, as well as major roles in the ballets of John Cranko, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Glen Tetley, John Neumeier, Kenneth MacMillan, William Forsythe, Maurice Béjart, Hans van Manen and Jiřà Kylián. He also worked closely with choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Marco Goecke, Mauro Bigonzetti and Christian Spuck in the creation of new works.
His career has taken him on tours around the world and to prestigious international gala appearances, including the World Ballet Festival in Tokyo, Roberto Bolle and Friends, Malakhov’s Gift, Nijinsky Gala Hamburg and Les Étoiles sous les Étoiles.
He has also appeared as a guest artist with Tokyo Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Zürich Ballet.
Alongside his performing career, he has developed an increasingly significant body of choreographic and artistic work. His creations include works for Bundesjugendballett John Neumeier, Ballet Dortmund and the Igone de Jongh Gala at Royal Theatre Carré. In 2021, his dance film Transfigured Night, created for Ballet Dortmund in collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic and filmmaker Mathieu Gremillet, received the award for Best Feature at the Inspire Dance Film Festival. In 2023, he created The Full Length for the NRW Junior Company, and in 2024 Transfigured Night was adapted for the stage for Bundesjugendballett John Neumeier. He also works internationally as a stager and rehearsal director for John Neumeier’s repertoire. In 2025, he co-founded WINNDance Company, where he currently serves as Director.
