SLAVA TUTUKIN.
Slava Tutukin was born in St Petersburg and trained at the renowned Vaganova Ballet Academy. After graduating, he began his professional career with the Mikhailovsky Theatre, where he performed as a soloist. In 2009, he was awarded first prize at the International Ballet Competition Città di Rieti in Italy.
From 2010 onwards, his career developed across Germany and the wider European dance landscape. He performed with Aalto Ballet Essen and also appeared as a guest artist with other international companies. Alongside his performing career, he completed a bachelor’s degree in business management at The Open University in the United Kingdom.
After retiring from the stage, he moved into artistic leadership, management, and cultural strategy. He went on to manage the dance company of the Linz State Theater in Austria, later served as Managing Director of the Tanya Pearson Academy in Sydney, and worked as General Manager and Deputy Artistic Director of Dortmund Ballet Theatre and NRW Junior Ballet.
Alongside his institutional work, he has created and managed a wide range of international projects, including ballet galas, tours, workshops, and special cultural events. His work has extended across Europe, Australia, Japan, China, the UAE, and the Maldives. He has also remained closely connected to training and mentorship through international workshops, masterclasses, and coaching, supporting younger dancers in their transition into professional careers.
A significant part of his career has also developed at the intersection of art, advocacy, and cultural policy. Since 2019, he has served as Vice Chair and expert for the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), contributing to the evaluation of grant applications and the allocation of European cultural funding. He was also active within the GDBA trade union, representing the dance profession through collective bargaining and stage arbitration processes in Germany. In addition, he served as an advisor to the High Arbitration Court for theatres in Germany and as a committee member for the state of NRW at the German National Foundation for Artists’ Support.
