POLINA SEMIONOVA.
Polina Semionova was born in Moscow, where she trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy under Marina Leonova. During her studies, she received major international recognition, winning top prizes at leading competitions, including the Moscow International Ballet Competition, the Vaganova Prix in St Petersburg and the Nagoya International Ballet Competition.
In 2002, she joined Staatsballett Berlin as a Principal dancer at the age of 17, becoming the youngest Principal in the company’s history. From the very beginning of her career, she performed leading roles in the classical repertoire, including The Nutcracker, La Bayadère and Onegin, quickly establishing herself
as one of the most outstanding ballerinas of her generation.
Her career has taken her to the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Bolshoi Theatre, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala and Metropolitan Opera. In 2012, she became a Principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and continues
to appear internationally as a guest artist with leading companies. Her repertoire includes all major classical roles, as well as works by choreographers such as John Cranko, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Alexei Ratmansky and Nacho Duato.
She has worked with many of the most renowned dancers of her generation, including Roberto Bolle, David Hallberg and Vladimir Malakhov, and has contributed to a wide range of artistic and interdisciplinary projects, including film, publications and international galas.
Alongside her performing career, she is active in education and was appointed Honorary Professor at the Berlin State Ballet School. Her work also extends into film and media, including collaborations with international directors and international brands.
