SILAS HENRIKSEN.

Silas Henriksen was born in Norway, where he began his dance training at the age of six in Arendal. He later continued his studies at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, where he developed a strong foundation in both classical ballet and contemporary dance.

Upon graduating, he joined The Norwegian National Ballet in 2007, where he quickly established himself as a distinctive and versatile artist. In 2010, he joined Nederlands Dans Theater, one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies, working closely with some of the most influential choreographers of his generation. He later returned to The Norwegian National Ballet, where he was appointed Principal dancer.

Throughout his career, he has performed leading roles across a wide range of repertoire, spanning both classical and contemporary works. His performances are recognised for their physical intensity, precision and strong expressive quality, allowing him to move seamlessly between different choreographic languages.

His career has taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Bolshoi Theatre and Mariinsky Theatre in Russia, Lincoln Center in New York and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. These appearances have positioned him as an internationally recognised artist with a strong presence across both traditional and contemporary contexts.

In addition to his stage work, he has developed a series of interdisciplinary collaborations, notably with musician Nils Bech and cinematographer Cecilie Semec. Together, they created the dance film Apart, which premiered as part of the opening exhibition at the new National Museum in Oslo. His work reflects an ongoing exploration of movement across different artistic forms, including film, music and visual art.
